A rare and important Silver Life Saving Medal, 500mm in diameter with silver suspension, engraved to Henry Corfield Boatswain.

“Presented by the Legislature of Antigua to five crew members of the ship Lydia of Liverpool, 12 September 1846, the medal was awarded to five crew members of the “Lydia” of Liverpool for their 'intrepid courage in rescuing from death three native seaman whose boat had been upset and sunk in a violent gale of wind off the harbour of St. John, 12th September 1846'
